How to connect your banks
Link as many European bank accounts as you like and see every balance and transaction in one place. Here is exactly what happens when you connect a bank.
Sapthan Pay is in pre-release testing. Right now it connects to test banks in a sandbox and no real money moves. Join the waitlist to be first in when it opens.
Step by step
- Open Accounts and tap Add bank account.
- Pick your country and bank. The app shows the banks available to you.
- Approve on your bank's own page. Your phone's browser opens your bank's login. Sign in there the way you normally do, choose which accounts to share, and confirm.
- You're back in the app. Your accounts appear under Accounts, grouped by bank, with balances and recent transactions.
Repeat for each bank. There is no limit on how many you connect.
Why we never see your password
Sapthan Pay connects through Salt Edge, a provider regulated in the EU for open banking. When you approve on your bank's page, your bank gives permission to read the accounts you chose; your username, password and one-time codes stay between you and your bank.
What the app can see
- Bank name, account holder name and account number (IBAN)
- Balance, shown with the time it was last updated
- Transaction history
Read access cannot move money. Every payment needs your separate approval at your bank. See how payments work.
Renewing and removing
- Renewal: under European open-banking rules, access to account data has to be re-confirmed with your bank periodically, usually every 180 days. The app tells you when.
- Remove a bank any time from Accounts. Its accounts disappear from the app together. You can also withdraw access from your bank's side.
Questions
Which countries are supported?
Banks across Europe. The exact list is shown in the app when you connect.
Can I connect accounts in different countries?
Yes. A Dutch, a German and a Belgian account can all sit side by side, and any linked euro account can pay another by SEPA.
