How to pay by SEPA in Sapthan Pay
Pay anyone in the SEPA area from any account you've linked, and approve each payment with your own bank. Here's how it works, step by step.
Sapthan Pay is in pre-release testing. Right now it connects to test banks in a sandbox and no real money moves. Join the waitlist to be first in when it opens.
Step by step
- Tap Send on Home.
- Choose the account to pay from. Every linked account is listed with its balance.
- Enter the payee: name, IBAN, amount and reference. Or scan the QR code on an invoice to fill them in.
- Check the summary and continue.
- Approve at your bank. Your bank's page opens; confirm with its usual security (app, fingerprint, code).
- Back in Sapthan Pay, you see the payment's status and it appears in History.
Approved at your bank, every time
Sapthan Pay prepares the payment; your bank executes it after you approve. Money moves directly from your account to the payee. Sapthan Pay never holds your money, and nothing is ever debited automatically: bill reminders tell you what's due, and you confirm each payment.
Limits
- €500 per payment
- €2,000 per day in total
Failed or cancelled payments don't count towards the daily limit. Your bank may apply its own limits too.
Paying between countries
Any linked euro account can pay any euro account in the SEPA area. For example, a Dutch account can pay into a Belgian or German one. Not sure an IBAN is right? Check it with our free IBAN checker, and see when it should arrive with the SEPA transfer time calculator.
If something goes wrong
- You cancel or your bank declines: no money leaves your account.
- The app closes mid-payment: next time you open it, it checks the real status with your bank and shows you the truth, rather than guessing.
- A wrong IBAN: double-check before you approve. A payment to a valid but wrong IBAN may not be recoverable.
